Longboard Characteristics

These are usually 8-12 feet long and thicker than most other boards. This size difference makes them more stable and buoyant in the water – making these boards great for beginner surfers as well. These boards are not as maneuverable as other boards because of their sheer size, but Longboard Surfboards do allow surfers to do tricks like “hang tens” on the front of the board that wouldn’t be possible on smaller boards.

These typically work best in smaller to medium waves and allow you to glide across the water. If your usual beach has larger waves it still may be a great idea to own one for the smaller days and because of the durability they provide. If you plan on surfing every day, this is the probably the best option because of the durability just mentioned.
